Best Digital SLR Camera for Travel Photography?

What would be the best SLR option for travel photos? I need a camera that will work well in low light settings. I've been looking at the Nikon D60, Canon Rebel XS, and Olympus Evolt but would like input and other suggestions from people that use SLR cameras. I would prefer to stay under $600.
Thank you for your help!

In any event, you should go with a Nikon, they are awesome. You need to keep it under $600 but if you can go with a D80 then do it. It comes with a bunch more features than the D60. It has 12 focus points and the 60 only has 3 or 4 I think and anytime you want to get somewhat serious that 3 focus points is going to suck.
Hi Rachel: I personally prefer Nikon due to their history of great quality lenses and camera bodies. Travel photos? I often prefer a pocket camera so I don’t look like a tourist. Good unbiased source for info is digital photography dot com’s buyer’s guide. (and for low light pictures, try using a monopod or a tripod.)
Nikon D60 for sure.

would recommend Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens
# 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor captures enough detail for poster-size, photo-quality prints
# Large 3.0-inch LCD display; includes Canon’s EF-S 18-55mm, f3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens
# DIGIC III image processor provides fast, accurate image processing; improved Autofocus and framing rate
# EOS Integrated Cleaning system, plus Dust Delete Data Detection in included software
NIkon D60 is the way to go,easy to use and provide great images.
