I’ve had this camera for a couple of months now. I have shot 35mm slr, primarily nikon, for more than 40 years. No camera has ever excited me as much as this one! It has reawakened a passion for photography that I have never experienced!

I have the canon Eos-1the lenses (of the eos-1) work on the 450d?
usually all canon-lenses work for all canon-cameras
EF and EF-S lenses should work on all of Canon’s APS-C sized (cropped) bodies. However, EF-S lenses will not work on full frame bodies including film (such as 5D, 5DMKII and 1Ds) or APS-H camera bodies such as the 1D.To answer your question EOS-1 lenses should work with the 450D. Hope this helps

The 18-55 IS version is an improvement over its predecessor – but has its limitations – pretty soft throughout the range. The 55-250 IS is a good value lens and produces some acceptable results. Separately, these lenses would retail for c£300-£350, which makes the 450D cheap.
If the additional tele zoom fits your needs, the Argos deal looks very attractive.
I would not be worried about the service angle, you have 12 months with Canon UK, 90 days refund on a credit card, and the Consumer Credit Act if you go for finance.
I believe you would be pretty pleased with this buy.

I understand the question completely. When I was photographing professionally, I wouldn’t have dreamed of using the then-bottom-level camera (the 300D, at the time, I think) even as my back-up camera. The 10D (and later the 20D and 30D) was my the back-up and second-lens camera to my 1D. So how did I end up photographing with the bottom-of-the-range model from Canon only a few short years later?

It depends on what "35mm film camera" you have. If you have an old Canon FD-mount camera (which means Canon's manual focus cameras made before the 90s) you'll need an adapter:
If you have an EOS 35mm camera with EF-mount lenses then they should mount and work exactly like they're suppose to.
In any case, since the sensor of the XTi is smaller than a frame of film, there's a 1.6x crop factor that you have to take into account. A 28-80mm lens would be equivalent to a 44.8-128mm lens on the XTi.

oh wow, totally misread that question, well if youre coming from a point and shoot, it will be like night and day,
there is no visible noise in your pictures till about ISO 800, which is still very usable, ISO 1600 is also still very usable,
the standard setting gives you contrasty images, but i think its a bit contrasty [i like to do a bit of post processing, so i shoot in raw]
