I need a digital SLR/ snapshot camera ASAP for under 600
Can someone please tell me which one is the best!

My favorite is the Pentax Kx. It won entry level DSLR of the year and can be found under $500.

other good ones are
Nikon D5000
Canon Xsi
Olympus E-420 or E-520
Sony A230 or A330
if you want something small for snapshots, then get one of the following
Samsung TL500
Panasonic LX3 or LX 5
Canon G11 or S90

A DSLR is not the same thing as a “snapshot” or point and shoot camera. DSLRs have interchangeable lenses and require a little more know how to use well. You can buy a DSLR and put it on fully automatic mode but they are capable of so much more than just snapshots. You may want to first want to figure out what you will need the camera for and then decide which camera fits your needs. B&H Photo has the Canon Rebel XS for about $550. It would be a good starter camera. Here’s the link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/571144-REG/Canon_2762B003_EOS_Rebel_XS_SLR.html . Cut and paste this link in your browser and take a look. If you don’t need that much camera for your immediate need, you may want to consider a good point and shoot camera. Good luck and happy shooting……
